A holiday mash-up for the whole family, The Hip Hop Nutcracker returns to the stage for its seventh season on tour. Directed and choreographed by Jennifer Weber, this contemporary dance spectacle is a re-mixed and re-imagined version of the classic, smashing hip hop dance and Tchaikovksy’s timeless music together into a heart-stirring and inspirational holiday event. The Hip Hop Nutcracker is brought to life by a powerhouse cast of a dozen all-star dancers, a DJ, a violinist, and MC Kurtis Blow, one of hip hop’s founding fathers, who opens the show with a short set.

For the 2021 National Tour, I was responsible for overseeing a cast of 16 and ensuring a safe and successful production in 23 different cities over 6 weeks. Working with the Dance Captain and Production Manager, I maintained the integrity of the production across a wide variety of venues and circumstances, including navigating venues of wildly different sizes and configurations, handling cast changes and put-ins due to injury and illness, and managing venue technicians of all abilities and experience levels. I also thoroughly documented the production and created paperwork, including a run sheet, props list, blocking charts in Stage Write, and more, for the production to use in future years or in case of an emergency.
